starter replacement ?

I have a couple of the 1954-1955-1956 Johnson starters (25 hp) One appears to be 6 volt (its bigger)
and the other is slightly smaller. Can someone tell me if there is a new made starter that will mate up to the
aluminum starter bracket ? Sierra does not seem to show one...….

They should all be 6V for those years. But there were a couple of 6V starter sizes. All 6V ones have an inspection band around the bottom. Obviously, the replacement starter has to match the mounting bracket. So there are a couple of 6V brackets, and some 12V brackets.

I don't think anybody is making new 6V starters for them. But I really haven't looked for any either.
