Starter screeching

Hi I am brand new to the forum so thank you in advance for any replies I just recently bought a 2005 bass tracker with a 50hp mercury elpto 2 stroke my issue is the starter works and starts the motor but it makes a God awful screeching/squealing sound while cranking makes anybody near by turn there heads it just doesn't sound right I have watched it start with the hood off and it looks like the bendix engages and disengages like it should I'm just stumped any help would be appreciated ....P.S I tried uploading a video and it just gives me an error

Thank you for the reply I don't know much about starters but I'm just wondering if it needs rebuilt would it still work? spins fast and cranks up the motor engages and disengages just trying to understand once again thanks for any help
