starter selenoid

greetings.i picked up new sierra starter selenoid and it sounds strange.does any one knows if constant clicking is normal instead of one click on old selenoid?new one keeps engaging very quickly with buzzing noice.just want to know if this part wont fail me when needed.tnx in advance.cant wait to get the beast on the water

Absolutely not normal, Kazek. What is happening is pulling in the solenoid is dropping voltage so much it drops out again.

Check battery. Remove and scrub all connections of battery cables (+ and -) shiny.

Let us know.

cleaned battery posts and followed the wires.found thick yellow wire going from selenoid to starter shorted with ground.i did straihgten out.selenoid works like a dream.i was thinking that i had bad selenoid.thanx for input
