had a small problemo the other day at the lake, went to start the engine 1993 rude 120 looper and the starter would not engage. she would spin up and go ping and not catch.. it finally caught and the motor ran peeerrrfect... started worked just fine after that as well.. what would cause this to happen?

i suspect low battery charge? any advice?

starter motor not spinning up quickly enough - insufficient battery charge is a likely culprit - then inspect all the cabling from battery to solenoid to starter, terminals need to be tight & clean, I mean make 'em shine. Don't forget the battery negative to engine block.

A low charge on the battery can certainly cause starting problems. Go ping?

ahhh thats good to hear boys, i had the boat in the garage the night before, we were consuming vast quantity's of brews, seems that we left the radio on all night, guess the battery was a lil low.. just wanted to make sure it wasn't a mechanic problem... it would suck being stuck out on the lake
