Hey everyone,
Great site, very resourceful. I thought I would post this info about my specific problem in case anyone else has the same issues. 1986 21ft. Four Winns Liberator, Cuddy Cabin, GM 350. Went to the lake a couple of weeks ago, engine fired right up. Boating for about 15 min., went to de-throttle, engine stalled. Tried to start it up, nothing but a loud "Click". Had to get towed back to the ramp on a very windy day. Got home, same thing, one loud click. After doing some research on this site, I decided it was a starter/solenoid problem. Took the boat to my local mechanic, telling them I thought it was a starter problem (but secretely fearing my engine was seized). They pulled both starter and solenoid, both were fried, got new ones installed and engine is now running like a champ once again. Total cost for parts and labor ~ $450.00. Next time this happens I will know what to do because of the posts I've read on this site, and will probably perform the work myself. I hope this helps someone who is searching frantically through the threads like me, trying to figure out why their new boat crapped out.

Get the OEM manuals for sure and maybe the seloc manual too and if you don't mind working upsidedown it should be a piece of cake.
