Starter solenoid leaking 2V

The starter solenoid on my Johnson 70hp VRO from 1986 is leaking 2 volt - if I use a handheld multimeter and put the positive pin on the solenoid contact without the starter cable connected to it, and the negative pin to the motor block, the multimter shows 2V. However, if I connect the starter cable to the solenoid contact, the multimeter shows 0V.
If I try to measure the resistance between the solenoid contacts, the multimeter shows nothing, meaning there's no connection between the contacts and that no current should to be able to pass through.
But if I put the positive pin of the multimeter on the solenoid contact that the battery is connected to, and the negative pin on the solenoid contact without the starter cable, it shows 12V - indicating there's a leakage.
The solenoid seems to be working alright, giving a click and letting through the current when the key is turned.
Should I replace the solenoid or overlook this leaking?

Re: Starter solenoid leaking 2V

It's fine...you may have some dirt and moisture on the case of the solenoid that is giving you the 2V reading.
