Starter Solenoid?

I have a 1996 25EL. When turning the key to start, there is a single "click" indicating that something is getting juice from the key. But nothing else happens. Would this indicate a bad solenoid if the starter is not engaging?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Starter Solenoid?

probaly a loose wire between battery solenoid and starter, may only be a 1/4 turn but that matters sometimes. that was my problem a week or so ago.

Temporarily jump the 2 big wires on the solenoid. If the starter works replace the solenoid.

Re: Starter Solenoid?

Your most likely problem is resistance in one or more connections in the starter high current circuit. The worst offender is the connection of the battery ground cable to the engine block, but take them all off and clean them thoroughly.

Let us know the result.
