Just tried starting my 97 glastron in the driveway-- the starter doesnt even click. The power trim works fine, and the voltmeter in the dash shows 13V-- any suggestions? I tried unplugging and replugging the killswitch- didnt make a difference. :(

Edit: Wanted to add that 4 weeks or so ago, I left the plug out and lots of water got into the engine compartment-- I think covering the starter in water. The boat has ran excelent since then, though, without any problems. The boat has now sat for 2 weeks and wont start. I tryed tapping on (what i think is) the starter with a hammer without any luck.

Could be a bad ground or loose wire.To locate the starter try following the positive cable from the battery to what is usually a cylinder type part.It will be connected to the back at the fly wheel.

If you had water in the bilge upto the starter then you will need to remove it and have it serviced.

I went through the instructions and it turned out to be the neutral safety switch. Switch is working fine but the throttle handle doesnt always pop out all the way to engage the switch. Got everything figured out and its working like a charm.

Peterf: What will they do to service it? Would it be more worthwhile to just wait till it dies and then have it rebuilt?

Servicing in this instance would involve cleaning and neutralizing the salt. You wait, there won't be anything left to service. I Guarantee it!

Even if it happened 2 months ago, its not too late to service it?
