Well,I found a good deal on an old 100hp,however I tried to start it and the start tried to start but no luck I even had a bit of electrical smoke after a few try's from the starter it seemed it didn't want to engage. So I think the starter needs to be changed. The last owner said it was at 90psi in all cylinders when he last used it and he had to change the plugs, cleaned fuel lines to get a good day out of it and it looks like a new pulse pack was also installed.
Is it worth trying to save???? thanks for any help and where can I find good parts/

How long did you have the starter engaged for? Meaning how long did you twist the key for each time you tried to start it?
Was the fuel line bulb pumped up good and hard?
Was the engine choked?
Was it in a barrel or on a garden hose adapter?

Thanks Battery was bad.replaced it cleaned the spark plugs and sprayed out carbs, pumped the fuel line,It turned over slow and it did try to start and I;'ve had a couple of good back fires to scare the wife .I'm using a tub of water to make sure the inlets are underwater.
I've used the choke switch a couple 0f times but not sure how long I should keep it on.I've kept the key turned just so I had a few rotation.Pumped the bulb too much extra gas came out the exhaust.Used the lean rich control arms and it seemed to turn over when the arms were in the middle, tried too rich and too lean also. Can I use a rope of a air wrench to get it going ?I haven't tried checking spark yet just assumed since I cleaned them.....you know.I have a buddy coming over later to help me so we'll see.
Thanks for all you help please any thing else you guys can think of please let me know.
Thanks
:)

True,
Do you know what cylinder I need to get the piston to TDC before I try to go any deeper as to timing etc?.I'll take the carbs off in the next few days, just gumout or use something else for a deeper clenz/.?any on-line manuals you can suggest?
Thanks
