1st the motor runs fine once it starts.

The problem is that whenever the thing sits for any length of time it takes forever to start up again. I am not a real pro with outboards but it seems like there in no gas readily available. I pump the ball and that does limited good and yes it is soft. There doesn't seem to be any problem at any speed once it starts.

I have an inboard 20 gallon tank, the motor is a "87" 70 hp Evinrude. I don't see any leaks of any kind in the fuel system.

Anyone got a place to start on solving this.

svangui1,

Your engine has a "primer" system not a choke system.

Turn the key "on" and push in the key and hold for 8 seconds, then turn engine over.
