I have a 1965 Evinrude 75 HP Starflight that has been in storage for 4 years. I am interested in starting it and running the boat often this summer. In Accordance with the Owner's Manual and Service Manual, I'm going to change the gearcase oil and lube all necessary fittings. Here are some questions I have:

1. Do I need to use lead-additives with my fuel since the engine is made for "leaded gas" from the 1960's?
2. What size battery should I purchase? (it does not have one right now)
3. I'd like to start it out of water... is this possible by hooking up a water hose to the coolant water intake?
4. Are their any tips someone could share to ensure I get this motor running and don't damage it in the process?

Thanks,
Scott Todd

Hi, Scott.
1. No, use unleaded regular.
2. Marine starting battery.
3. Get a hose attachment.
4. Do a few searches for starting engines after long storage.

Good luck. :)
