I have heard several times that you "NEED" to have the motor totally vertical or even tucked under to be able to start them. That is not true. I start mine all the time during the off season on the trailer. I can't even get my motor vertical while on the trailer cause the boat sits too low. I also don't really want to take the time or hastle to unhook it from the transom saver.

From a total COLD start (Being about 1-2 weeks between starts) it takes no longer than 15 - 20 seconds at the most cranking to fire it up. In the picture the motor is running and still hooked up to the Transom Saver.

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto.php?photo=13005

I'm posting this so that others don't get it in their heads that the motor "Has" to be in a certain position in order to start it. The carbs take fuel from the bottom of the bowl, so, basically as long as the water intakes are under water you should be able to start it without taking any longer than if it was vertical.

I hope this helps.

Craig
