starting eng with o/d off

i am working on my o/d but,while i am saving $ for parts i would like to work on some starting issue's/have to jump battery to coil to get 12 volts to start then it's ok. I know i'll have to hook to water hose,but will it hurt anything in the flywheel to transome/like cuppler/or anything

Watch your hose water pressure... keep it at a nice steady stream, nothing overbearing.
