HI All;
Looking for a little help. I currently own a 1989 Chaprall 198 CLX with a 1989 4.3L Mercruiser coupled to a Alpha 1 Gen one.
The engine was rebuilt due to a cracked block. As of now I have a rebuilt engine sitting on my engine stand, completly built except for the starter, flywheel, and the bellhousing.
What I would like to do is start and run the engine while outside the boat and on some sort of shop built wood support system. I'm able to connect the water, battery, and fuel supply to the engine, but I'm unsure of how to turn the ignition to the "ON" position.
I was wondering if there was some way to jump the terminals on the main plug that is sitting on the engine. I looked in the manual, and think that if I jump terminal 6 and 7, it would give the same condition as if the ignition switch was turned to the "ON" position. After which I will then be able to hit the starter with my remote hook up.
If jumping the terminals is not possible, dose anybody have any other ideas as to keeping the ignition on?
Thanks for any help.
Tom
