starting isue

have a 85hp 1979 200840r has a spark that gives you a little kick is this normal or should it boot the hell out of you if you hold a srewdriver on end of plug lead as motor won't fire at all not sure if it is getting fuel or not how to test pump outflow

thanks for help but it does not tell how the fuel pump can be tested if it pumps or not to carby

Remove bottom plug from carb float bowl &
Pump primer bulb to see if your getting gas
to & in carbs.
If your holding plug boot cranking you should
get a hard jolt followed by A son of a -----
Done that don't recommend it.
