Just bought a 1986 with a supposedly good 350. Before I remove and drop this engine in my other boat, I'd like to know if the damn thing runs. However, somebody has cut the wiring harness connector from the boat side (male), so there is no wiring connected from the dash backwards.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but if I have a remote starter switch hooked up to the solenoid should the motor not turn over and run ? Thank you in advance gentlemen.

Assuming your engine is carbed, AllDodge's method got my 260 started when I first bought the boat. As long as a good battery is in with negative to the block and positive to the post on the starter, all you should need to do is take a jumper cable from the positive post on the battery to the positive post on your solenoid (mine was mounted on the back of the left side log manifold underneath it) and it should fire.

If you're going to pull it anyways to use in another boat I'd pull it first IMO. I find motors are much easier to work on when you're not trying to share bilge space with them.
