The neighbor was throwing this out as someone gave it to him and he never got around to tinkering with it so, of course, I took it to play with. No history is available so lets start at the beginning with the serial number. Looks about like this:

4
or 86/9560
A

As near as I can read it.

Appears to be a 4.5 hp long shaft. F/N/R one lunger.
Is this a 1986 build date or older?
Wiring needs to be redone, and it does turn through smoothly by hand, (not seized)

Also, can I bypass the quick connect fuel line coupler and run directly off the tank?

Thanks,

Bradster…

Re: Starting Point Year made.

Thanks TIM.

Now, I repaired the wiring and behold, she fired right up !

Unfortunately, she isn’t pumping water which is fine, it looks like it’s been neglected and I’m sure it’s way over due for a new water pump.!.

Question, where do I disconnect the shift cable?
I see no place at the shift handle to do so..
Also, it looks like only 1 bolt holds the lower unit on?!

Thanks much,

Brad. :D

Re: Starting Point Year made.

Upon closer inspection, it appears the shift linkage is rotary and I suspect it should slip right out.

So then, there is a wire that runs up the front of the leg to what appears to be a locking clamp for the tilt. ???

How do I disconnect this wire?

I’m thinking I need to drive the pin out as the clamp is salted up pretty stiff.

Yea, I know, buy the manual, but I’m not looking at keeping it, I just want to make sure it’s right before I donate it to the church for the auction.

Also, what is this little kicker worth in good to better than good running condition?

Thanks,

Brad…
