I have a 1985 70 hp evinrude that turns over slow when cold. It starts great when it is warmed up. Can anyone tell me what to check or do?

Thanks

Check and clean all your electrical connections on the starter, solenoid and battery. Scuff them up really good with a fine sandpaper till they are nice and shiny.
Also is the battery strong? Weak battery will do that also...

Re: starting problem

have the battery load tested at the auto parts store, free. and clean and tighten all connections. loose connections cause drop in amperage and creates heat,

Re: starting problem

It has a new hot battery and all the connections are clean. When starting cold it hesitates almost like a timing problem but it runs great once started. do you think it may be timing?

Thanks for the help!!
