Re: Starting Problems 150 vro

I think 1990 150 , it has a fuel primer solenoid, not a choke.?

can you hear the primer solenoid click when the ignition key is pushed in?

Do you have a good starting proceedure or is are you new to outboards?
They can be a finicky if you are unfamiliar but .. this works for me.

1.pump fuel bulb firm,
2.push the key in for a few seconds
3.then turn key with key still pushed in,
4.when it fires release key but ....
5.keep pumping it in and out to keep the engine going until it runs by itself and idle stabilizes.

Make sure the fuel primer solenoid (choke) is working. Pull of the primer hose from the top of the top carb, turn the key on, and push in on the key. You should see fuel out of the hose. If you get nothing, the primer solenoid may be bad.
