starting

1992 200 hp johnson was running 5-1-3. tried to start 9-1-3- will not start. starter not spinning faster enuff on first 2-3 starts then starter will spin until let key go. ck battery ok. ck all connections ok. have a small leak at priner solinoid . carb over hauled 1 yr ago. i have 2 200 on a 25 ft boat the other one started right up. can the leak be problem. can a bad key switch<br />cause motor not to start. will ck spark to plug 9-13-03. what else can i look for or do to get my motor going.<br />looking forward to responses.

Pull the plugs and inspect them. If they're wet, you've probably got no spark. If they're dry, you've got no fuel. If they're real wet, it's flooded.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

Do you get any exhaust fumes at all when trying to start it? <br />As Hooty says - pull the plugs and report back.

hooty and legin - thanks- its was flooded - dont know why. tilted motor up a while then down and tried to start until ran battery down . on second battery it started up. been running all week end- thanks again--does any one know how to contact cdi( a company ??) for parts I saw a power pack for $94.00 for a 200 johnson- they are $140 to $200 in mobile al. i needed a trim tilt motor for my 200 john. it was $250. found one for $120 but hope cdi or others dont have it for $90..
