Hello, forgive my ignorance but I want to get my motor running tomorrow. I have it on a stand I built. its a 1960 75hp evinrude, I have no doubt about the sturdyness of the stand, and would use one of those big plastic garbage cans you see landscapers use,, maybe 45 50 gallons.
I guess I could put it on the boat but would have to remove it again and all that involves chains, hoists, etc

any thoughts?

Just remember, Ralph, many tune up adjustments should be made under load, and never rev a 2 stroke over about 1500rpm without a load.

You wont be able to put her under load in a trash can, but you can verify that the fueling and ignition systems are functioning.

Good luck. :)

Have you got the engine "C" clamped to the stand. That engine sit's in seperate mounting brackets that are bolted to the boat. If it goes in gear, it could come off that stand.

I built it with 3 layers of 3/4 ply laminated together so it is as thick or thicker than a transom.... I could just through bolt it just as you would do on the boat.

I just went out and I have already bolted the bracket to the stand. but UPS missorted my timing belt so I can't do what I wanted anyway
