Ok maybe I think too much about these things. When I pull the plugs for a static timing, should I ground out the plug wires to the block. What about fuel coming out of the plug holes, chance of fire from spark?

Seems like static means static so the engine isn't running so no spark. I have never had a problem with this but it sounds like a good practice to ground the wires to protect power packs.

Must be my brain that has all the static. I am going to time the motor per Joe Reeves method. Engine cranking with spark but not running. Thanks for the info on protecting the pack. Hope I didn't hurt it a while back when I did a compresion test, plug wires dangling. Sheesh, wish I was researching this site from day one.
