stator interchange

I ordered the wrong stator for 1980-81 merc inline 6 115 hp. I have the v6 stator already mounted but not powered on yet. What will be the consequences if i use the v6?

If the stator is for a 80-81 V-6 it wont hurt anything, the wires are different length...
