Now, I'm hoping I've been able to upload some pics...
I looked under the flywheel today, saw a melted plastic piece hanging down.. pulled the flywheel, found magnet loose, hanging down about 1/4".. the flywheel seemed to be stuck on the area I found the plastic insulation melted on the stator.. the engine runs ok, tach is screwy, though.. I am going to clean the flywheel, reattach the magnet (still one piece), and hope for the best.. I am consider using 3M trim adhesive ( aka Gorilla snot ) to do this.. do you experienced guys have a favorite glue?.. or is that stuff ok...

Now, the 5 melted poles start with the green/yellow wire at the 7 o'clock position, and are counterclockwise from the 7 o'clock position. All the rest look ok. The copper wiring is NOT melted, but if the pics work, you can see where melted insulation actually bridges a couple of poles.. it's insulation, so I doubt it could short anything. I will be researching tonight this forum to properly ohm out my stator, but any suggestions or tips are welcome..

Re: Stator meltdown

glue in magnet with something that will stand the temp ..not 5 min epoxy....well the coils ..they either work or they dont .....looks like the battery charging coils to judge by the thick wire
