Stator ohms test low, is this too low, (398-5454A34) stator

Having trouble with motor bogging down at 2500-3000 rpms and not getting above 4400 when I do get it to plain out, could stator be the prob, tested low.

Book gives between blue and red 4450-4650 ohms mine was 4100. Between blue/white and red/white book same, mine was 4080. The rest of it tested ok. Could this be the problem?

I kind of doubt that is your problem. The stator usually is there to charge the battery after going through a rectifier. You need to tell us a bit more about the engine. I see you posted this in the Mercury forum, so assuming it is a Mercury OB. But we will need the year, HP, and model and serial numbers to offer other ideas. But at this time, I personally don't think your stator is the problem. That is unless you have a reading from those wires to ground. Then you could have a problem. JMHO

What type meter are you using?

go here and retest like tha thread says........ ohms can read jus fine but stator can actually be bad.. dva is lots more accurate.... justa note.. if it doesn't ohm out then 99.9% of tha time its bad..............

ts a 1990 v-200 2.4L merc. I do not have a correct s/n witch has made this a lot harder of a problem to figure out. It has 0c941225 as the s/n witch comes up as a 9.9 trolling motor.

The red and red/white to ground both tested at 71 ohms which is what the book said it should (65-75 ohms)

understand tha problem findin' your motor... there weren't very many 16 amp 150/175/200 "16" amp motors built after '89.... most are 40's....

Red or red/w lead to ground is 125 to 175 ohms. Blue to red, or blue/w to red/w is 5400-6200 ohms.

I was thinking the numbers you are giving are for the 9 amp stator looking at my book. I have 2 of them but this one show what the 5454A34 should be or it says, I took a picture hope u can see.

that's something that slipped my old brain cells... tha a32 and a34 are 1/2" laminate but still 16 amp... any other 16 ie: a35, 36, etc will use tha test with higher numbers...
