Stator or Power Pack???

Hey guys, I'm not getting spark on my 97 50esl w/remote & elec start.
my previous thread solved my kill switch issue, thanks for the help!
Now - How do I test to see whether the problem is the stator or the power pack? I am 99.9% sure it is not coils or plugsor plug wires, all are new.

follow that link...great advice...I've read through it alot of times. if your going to keep that engine...get a service manual. it will pay for itself time after time after time after time. details ALL the tests and procedures to diagnose your probs. and great diagrams of your electricals also. good luck

Thanks guys,

that is truly a comprehensive outline on how to troubleshoot and what to look for. I have most of the required equipment, I hope a fluke 87 will do as well as an 88. I bought a SELOC manual last year. It does not have the juicy details listed in the link you provided, but mechanically it filled the bill.
I will fill you in on my progress later. I'm on 2 of 6 nights right now. Thanks again.

Did you try to run it with the black and yellow kill wire disconnected at the powerpack?

Did you try to run it with the rectifier disconnected?

I just tried running with the black yellow disconnected at the power pack, it cranked immediately! I have a short to ground to run down, but at least I am in the hunt. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AGAIN!

Wife got the kids three cute bunnies last year.
Hundres of pounds of feed and many wire pens later I now count over 40 head of furry fertilizer factories
