Could a stator melt down without taking out the reg/rec and or a power pack? motor is e225cxcce. I am thinking of doing the power pack, and the stator but I replaced the reg/rec this spring could it have lived?

Re: stator overheat

You haven't explained why you are doing this? Did you lose spark? Is your battery not charging? You have different coils in the stator that provide voltage for the ignition and charging systems.

Sorry I have lost spark on cyl.1,3,5, and when ther flywheel was pulled the stator clearly had been quite hot there was black goop that had melted off it. I was just wondering if I took anything else out.

Re: stator overheat

Replace the stator and do further testing. The PP may be OK. You can easily see if the regulator/rectifier is OK by measuring the voltage across the battery terminals with the motor running. Any thing ~ 13.5 vdc or more is OK. If still no spark on 1,3 and 5, the PP is NG.

Re: stator overheat

Well we replaced the stator and still had funky spark so we did the power pack as well and now she runs great. It seems to start better as well. thanks for the tips
