Stator problem

I have a 96 75hp force and i was left stranded on the ohio river yesterday. Boat started missing and then died when i tried to restart it would even hit. Plugs were fouled and it wasnt firing. I have had this trouble before so when i got it back home i tested the stator. I only have 88 ohms on w/g and g/w book says between 500 and 600. But i can wiggle around the stator wires and it will go up in that range. Im just wondering if there is anything i can do to fix this or am i looking at buying another stator?

Re: Stator problem

I guess it all depends on whether or you mind being stranded on the Ohio River again, as to whether or not you replace it or repair it.

Re: Stator problem

I replaced stator first time this happened i guess i should have posted that. This would be the second stator in 3 years. Both were black and the one i took off first time i dont think it was the original (398-9873a22) I think that is for a 120 hp engine but same year. I dont know if that matters im not an expert or anything but it ran fine till it went bad.
