Stator Problems???

I have a 1997 Evinrude 225 OceanPro. A few weeks ago I was having what appeared to be fuel delivery problems but wasn't. Engine would just shut off and wouldn't restart. Also had intermitent missing at mid to high rpms. Then the tach quit working. Mechanic took the flywheel off and found 2 of the 4 magnets had come off. He epoxed those back on. Replaced stator.<br />Took boat out for test. Cut off a couple of times while idling out of the canal which is ususual for this motor, but it restarted. Got it up on plane and appeared to be running better but vibration was occuring in motor. Got worse. Now under load the motor "bucks" really bad.<br />Mechanic says there is a lot of play in the propeller (side to side). Sounds to me like it bucks when it goes into "SLOW" mode and drops 3 cylinders.<br />Is it just a coincidence that there are prop/shaft issues when I'm having the other problems or do you that this is all related.<br /><br />The Big O

Big O,<br /><br />Just an observation here, and I'm not at all familiar with your motor.<br /><br />That said, Out of balance engine parts tend to leave a trail, usually of more damaged parts.<br /><br />What caused the magnets to come loose in th first place? I'd suspect that the two are related, as to where it started????<br /><br />Mike
