I have a 89 Evinrude 70. I can take it out to the lake with a 100% charged battery, use it for about 4 or 5 hours, bring it in and the battery will be at 70% or so. Does that mean the stator is bad on the engine? Is that what charges the battery when it is running?
Thanks
Cal

Re: STATOR QUESTION

Part of the stator is what produces the current that will charge the battery. That current will have to pass thru the rectifier and then to the battery.

If the battery is only at 70% after running several things could be the cause. A bad rectifier, wiring, the battery itself, etc.
