Looking for some advice. I have a 90HP Force O/B. Model 906X91E. The motor would drop down to 10 MPH at WOT. Found blue wire with black tracer off of stator. Is this something that can be repaired or should I just purchase a new stator. I have no spark on # 3 cylinder. Is this related? Thanks Brad

Re: Stator Repair

Hello Puddle Jumper,

I am no expert in this matter. I just had a wire break off of my 90 HP 1991 FORCE.
It broke at the wiring block end and I lost spark to my number 2 cylinder. If it looks like it should go to a wiring block terminal (in other words if there is a wire end there with no wire in it) then strip it back a short piece (maybe 1/8") and put it under the screw with the wireless terminal. Then check your spark. ;)

Re: Stator Repair

Thanks Robert L. The wire has come off of the windings on the stator. Not sure if it can be repaired. Still have to remove the flywheel. Any tips or suggestions.

Re: Stator Repair

LOOKS LIKE YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE STATOR .IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS IT IS ABOUT A 20MIN. JOB YOU NEED A 1 1/16 SOCKET A IMPACT GUN AND A STEERING WHEEL PULLER .I DON;T THINK YOU CAN REPAIR STATOR IF IT BROKE FROM THE WINDING;DIFFERENT IF IT WAS AFTER THE STATOR. TRY www.seilermarine.com MIKE HAS GREAT PRICE ON STATOR

Re: Stator Repair

Thanks Lonewolf, appreciate the help. We made a tool to pull the flywheel. It worked great. Would have never done it w/out the impact wrench. I will check out the lead you gave me for part. Thanks again.
