1970 Johnson 115. I need to remove stator (to unscrew coil wire - I'm replacing coil and pulse pack)and the stator is stuck to distributor. Any tips on seperating them?

Thanks,

TC

Re: stator stuck to distributor

That happens. The cure is to carefully (CAREFULLY) lift those two items up slightly, then tap the distributor cap down with a block of wood or a mallet.... TAP, not POUND!

However, why are you removing the flywheel, stator, and distributor cap to simply remove the coil wire?

Remove the coil from its retaining bolts and wire clamps, then simply unscrew the entire coil and wire assembly from the distributor cap.

Also, you may be aware of it but if not, that wire also unscrews from the coilx. There's a threaded prong within the coil that the wire simply screws into.

I thought the coil wire might unscrew like that, but I wasn't sure, and I sure didn't want to just start twisting the wire! Also, I figured a peek under the flywheel wouldn't hurt...

THANKS!

TC
