stciky shifting

My alpha one shifter sticks when the engine is running. When engine runs shifting between gears takes some force and i have to go thru neutral to get to the opposite gear and then push back into neutral, when engines is off the shifter works very smoothly. any help, thankss

Ayuh,.... There's a shift switch on the shift plate, back by the motor, where the forward cable meets the lower shift cable,...

Yer's ain't workin',....

That's where ya start lookin',.... wires hooked up, etc,...

Yeah, i've read about that switch and have seen it back there. Is it an on/off switch should i check it for 12 volts? And how do i check it mechanically? Thnaks

When you're happily driving around in gear the switch is open but when you try and pull it out of gear the cable strains a little bit & closes the switch which in turn grounds the negative side of the coil and makes the engine miss a beat.
When they're working properly it's seamless & you wouldn't even know it happened.
