On our first outing every thing ran good the first 2 days. On the third day while running 2800 rpm I hear a low steady beep and shut it down (1992 150XR6). I have a 8 hp kicker that is handy. The whole time water was comming out the P hole. I saw my oil tank low but the top tank was full. After a while I started it up and it never sounded off again. Did a flush with ear muffs( Was in salt water) and again no sounds, started to "P" at 1200 and was hot. I tend to worry alot so I thought I'd post and get a few comments from the smart folks here (I learned much just reading here). I have read that a steady beep is heat and a beep beep is oil.The boat is a 1989 Lund Tyee 1850 that I got from a family member who just never used it much the last few years. What should I check next:confused:

Steady Beeeeeep is overheating. When was the last water pump impeller change, might be time. Check the thermostats, they open at 143 degrees. If you have never checked, might be time for a poppet valve diaphragm. Do you have a water pressure gauge?

I have a gauge and it builds up as I power up, I have to admitt I didn't get any readings at certain power settings as I don't know what would be normal. I have a service manual on the way so I need to find out what to expect and at what power settings.
