So what would cause a pulse in the steering wheel, only at idle speed, and only when turning the wheel, not when holding a turn or straight, so only when MOVING the stealing wheel At idle. 2005 four winns, 190h with Volvo 5.0 gxi. Steering is good and smooth at speed, and no vibration or noise. Does also seem “stiff” at slower speeds if that means anything...
thanks

There is something loose, it could be the steering cable where it is attached to the PS unit. Have someone shake the drive left and right while you are inside the boat watching for the source of the slack.

So I will not get a chance to look at this until this coming week, Do you think would a stretched cable do the same? Or is it specifically something is loose. There is a lot of slack in the steering, I figured that was just the way it is...

bad u-joints could be felt in the steering wheel when turning.

Yes and it probably applies to positive trim as well but I haven't personally experienced it.

So, I have run the boat several times since, I must have had something wrapped around the prop, I checked the steering link, and all looks good, there is only a slight “pulse” in the steering at slow speeds, it’s there, but nothing like it was, I will have to continue messing with the trim to see if it makes a difference and check the u- joints later this year...it is real smooth at speed and in tight tyy it runs, so I am thinking they are good...I need to ask about the steering free play, but I will start a new thread... thanks all
