Steering and Control Box question

I am in the middle of a complete refurb on a pontoon. I have new decking and carpet down...installed a new console...all new furniture. The boat needs a new steering cable system and a new throttle/gear control box. How hard are these to install yourself (if you've never done any of this before)? I can buy a new steering cable system for $165 and a new control box for $259. They'd cost a lot more if I had a boat dealer/shop buy and install...but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. I would have to cut the holes in the console for the steering system and mount the control box....plus make all the connections at the motor which is an old Johnson 35 hp outboard.

Any recommendations?

Re: Steering and Control Box question

Go to lowcostboatstore.com. Rotech Uflex steering and Teleflex control box can be picked up for alot less. You'll need a few tools and a router to install the steering system.

The job is relatively easy. Just make sure you get long enough cables.
