Greetings, first post on the forum.
I inherited a 1985 Celbrity 225v for free that I am working on. Good news is I got her running. So my current issue is the steering. At the helm, the wheel turns freely. At the outdrive, I can't move the unit at all. I am assuming the latter is because it's hydraulic steering and needs to be moved hydraulically - but that's only a guess as I have another 26' Wellcraft that I can move back and forth (it's a mercruiser alpha one). My boat is a stringer outdrive. When I get the boat started, still no steering. Is there a pump at the helm that I should be looking at? The power steering pump has oil so that is not the issue.
Secondly, as stated above, the outdrive is a stringer as far as I know. It doesn't have bellows like the mercruiser does. It seems that it doesn't trim either. It is either up or down. There is a guide pin on the intermediate unit to hold things in place. So with that being said, how does water get from the outdrive to the engine? I ask because when I did start it, no water was at the engine (yes, I had the muffs on and water turned on). I am guessing there's an impeller that is not working? I have not removed the lower unit yet and I know I need to to service it.
Thanks in advance.
