Can I connect hydraulic steering and throttle to any outboard or do I need to purchase specific ones?

sorry everyone this is my first boat and I just complete everything besides this. No motor as of yet. But making sure if I need a specific type I get it.

of course I googled but so much different info.

Welcome aboard, Ai.

Hydraulic steering is usually a universal fit, but sometimes adapters are needed depending on the outboard.

Throttle and shift cables are specific to the outboard in most cases. Remote controls are also brand specific, although there are universal controls that can work with most outboards with adapters.

It would be best to decide after you get an outboard and often if you find a used one, a control will come with it.

What boat do you have?

As above

Do you need or JUST want hydraulic steering?
if the boat didn't have it from factory previous owners may have not decided it wasn't necessary anyway,

It is fairly expensive to buy/fit afterwards,

We ( family ) have owned 20-25 boats and only 2 have had it,
including the boat bought today,
So 5 boats atm,

I've got a 30 ft fb cruiser that does not have it but that DOES have twin inboards so dosen't need it anyway,

The 29ft displacement wood cruiser dosen't have it either,

.Nor does the 23 ft fg cabin cruiser with planning hull,

Just something to consider
