steering and vibration

On my way back to the marina I started to pick up a vibration in the steering wheel. If I take my hand off the steering wheel the boat pulls sharply to starboard. If I accelerate the vibration gets worse. The problem started while reducing speed to prevent creating a wake passing a sail boat and there was nothing I can think of in the way of striking an underwater object etc as I was in the middle of the channel and in pleanty of water depth.
The boat is a Finnsport 650 with a mercury 115 outboard any suggestions welcome.

Yes, you are feeling something from the drivetrain.
