Steering cable 1993 19 Marada OMC 5.0

I need to replace the steering cable on a 1993 19 Marada, OMC 5.0. The steering became stiff and barely usable at the end of last season. How difficult is this type of repair? I am wondering if this is something I can take on myself. I am very good with the right tools and a manual.
