Steering cable advice please

Hi Guys,
My motor is attached to the steering cable via a splashwell mounting kit.
Steering wheel lock to lock is 2.5 turns, which gives 7 & 3/4 inches of cable stroke at the motor.
This only allows the motor to turn a max of 45 degrees from dead centre to port or starboard, giving really poor manouverability at slow speed(docks etc).
I need to get a cable/unit which gives a greater stroke at the motor end, which will allow better handling.
Best I can find is a system with 9" stroke......
Anyone know of a mechanical system with more stroke than this?????
Thanks, DAVY

what motor? J/E's have 2 holes on the steering connector, you can change holes and get more turn.

Yes, it's an Evinrude.
I will try that for sure & report back.
Thanks for your input - appreciated:)

Ok so,
I,ve re-attached the steering cable to the inner mounting hole on the motor steering arm, & it does give me a bit more turning movement in the motor - but there is still a lot more that the motor could turn.
I,d still be grateful if anyone knows of a steering cable with a greater stroke of 9 inches - this I feel would solve the problem.
Thanks, DAVY
