Steering cable compatibility...

So my old steering cable froze up and broke (teleflex rack and pinion) ive removed it from the boat, the replacements are kinda expensive and im not working nearly as much now due to the deepwater horizon oil spill, its practicaly killed my busines, but anyhow, ive found a quicksilver rack and pinion cable here localy for cheap, its new, but my question is will this cable be compatible with the teleflex helm thats in the boat? Thanks guys...

No You would need the helm too. Quicksilver I believe is a round rack and the Teleflex is square or flat. But everyone puts their own teeth pattern on so the likelihood of interchange is slight.

Ok thank you for that, 1 more question, will the teleflex steering wheel fit on the quicksilver helm? Are at least those compatible?

Usually the helms have a certain diameter/taper/key number assigned to them, don't they? I recently put a Teleflex rack into my boat, but didn't buy a Teleflex wheel - I just made sure that the wheel that I purchased had the same diameter/taper as the Teleflex helm.

Good point, well, anyway I scored a quicksilver helm and rack cable, brand new in box for only $25 pick it up 2morrow... He had no use for it, so im hoping it fits, if not... Back to searching I suppose! Thanks for the input!
