WHAT TYPE OF STEERING CABLE CONNECTION IS USED ON MY 1986 EVINRUDE 25HP ENGINE. I BOUGHT IT WITHOUT A TILLER ARM.
AND HOW IS IT ATTACHED.

Depends on the model. If it has a tilt tube., the cable goes through it and a drag link part number 173699 connects the end of the cable back to the tiller arm. Look at a few boats and you are bound to see this set-up, except the drag link is a special shape.

If it doesn't have a tilt tube, you have to use a transom mounted support tube to hold the cable and a clevis kit to connect it to the motor. Get these from Teleflex (any marine dealer).
