I used the search and found many posts to help me figure out my cable is ceased. Came out of the tube easily. Was hard to steer all last summer and when i took it apart all the teeth at end of cable were torn up.

Cable is def. bad.

Its aprox. 15 feet and from what i've researched online it is a DETMAR Flat Rack

Seems detmar is no more so i'm trying to figure out what i have to buy to replace it with something.

So far it looks like Teleflex SS151xx but will that work with my helm or do i have to buy a new helm as well?

any help will be very appreciated as i've never dabbled into anything like this on a boat before.

Ayuh,... It's cheaper to replace the Whole thing as a kit....

Complete kits are available for around $250.00, with tilt wheel. I just did a re-cable in a similar vintage boat. I found a replacement cable manufactured by a company called SteerFlex. It was a direct bolt in, priced at around $120.00 from a marina.

What i need to really know is if a Teleflex cable will directly bolt onto my helm from the detmar...
