Steering Cable I/O

In the process of removing to replace the stiff steering cable on myStriper 2101 WA I/O and have loosen the large nut on the left.

and have removed the pin on the right.

Thought I?d ask first on how to remove the cable from the housing before I start pulling/pushing/banging. Does it just slide right out from the nut side on the left?

I replaced mine about a year ago. had trouble removing old cable. did not seem to have enough room to remove the steering rod. I just cut it. problem solved.

Okay, I answered my own question. The cable does slide out from the nut side by turning the steering wheel to the left which will extract most of the the cable end, then it's just a matter of sliding the rest out. ;).

Ayuh,.... Grease up inside that tube, 'n the cable end when ya put it back together,....

That's a common corrosion point, inside that tube,....
