How long is too long for a steering cable? About a year ago I bought an OMC dual throttle control with cables off ebay for a ridiculous price, maybe $20. I finally took it out and cut the ties to see how long the cables were. They are 8' ~ 10' too long. Should I just coil them up and go with it or buy new cables? The controls work very smoothly and I don't see any nicks or dings in the cable coating.
I know that cables are not too expensive, about $25 each, but buying 4 really brings the price up.
