I was on the water yesterday and the steering quit working. I can feel the cable move all the way in the back so I’m thinking it broke in the part that mounts to engine. You can turn the wheel all the way one direction and it will turn the engine but not bring it back the other direction. Is there anywhere on the cable to tell what length I need to order? Or what’s best way to go about getting a new one. Thanks

The original cable likely has the length on it. Or you could measure it, or the manufacturer tells on their web site how to measure for it. The formula is steering console to gunwale plus gunwale to transom plus transom to motor, plus some inches, at least that is for a side steering runabout-style boat. CC's may be different.

A lot of cables are not sold separately. You will need to buy the steering console to the cable end.

You will need to choose a no feedback or regular hub. If the motor has torque feedback to the helm, the no feedback steering cables are the best. They are a few $ more.
