Looking for help finding a steering cable part for my 1987 for winns sundowner 195 4.3l mercruiser. Not sure if this is the right forum, but I need a new steering cable. Disconnected the cable from the outdrive and the drive moved easily and smoothly. Then I disconnected the cable at the helm, and the wheel turned very easily. From what I've read, this looks like needing a new cable. Looking at my cable , it's hard to tell, but it looks like a 15 foot cable, but I'm not sure what the other digits mean. I'll attach a picture . I tried putting what I saw in a Google search with no luck . Any help is appreciated.

Ayuh,..... Steerin' cable ain't outdrive parts, I'll move this to trhe steerin', 'n controls forum for ya,.....

Findin' a new cable to fit yer old helm, likely won't happen,.....
Buy a helm, 'n cable "Kit", then all ya gotta know is the length,.....

So any helm and cable kit that is 15 feet would work? Are they universal to my steering wheel?

Donno what ya got,.... New/ newer helms use a 3/4" tapered wheel hub,....

The difference 'tween the rack, or rotary, is the available space behind the dash,.....
