Steering Cable Replacement help

I have an old Mercury 48226 B rack steering system which was getting stiff.
I pulled the cable from the boat and can hardly move it by hand. The rack itself moves nice and free so I am looking for a replacement cable. The cable is a 'Ride Glide 11ft 2E'

Does anyone know what a suitable replacement cable is for this as I cannot find any info on it?

Thanks for your time

Re: Steering Cable Replacement help

Any marine shop should carry a selection of cables and helms. Make sure you attach your new cable to the old one BEFORE pulling old one through your boat. Otherwise you will have a science project on your hands. Mine was a tight fit for a big lump of tape so I attached 550 chord (military style twine) to the old one, pulled it through then attached new cable to chord and pulled it back. Also, replace your helm at the same time. For mine (Teleflex 18ft no feedback cable and helm cost $180). After you pull chord through your boat with your old cable...bring your old cable into a shop and they will hook you up
