I'm on the last stretch of finishing my boat project. Just have to install the gas tank panel, glass, paint and put in seats. While I was testing my gas tank connections yesterday I noticed the plastic? housing of the steering cable is badly cracked and rotted and you can see the metal on the cable is rusting and corroded. But probably no more than 1/2 sq.inch is actually exposed. Is it time to replace? As my brother-in-law says, it won't fail sitting under the carport. <br />If so, how do I go about this? Where do I buy cables, etc.<br />It is a 1986 90hp Mercury OB.<br />Thanks.
